Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity

You should not have those high sensitivity numbers on de low HF/VLF bands as it will overload your receiver. Most HF/VLF receivers have less sensitivity below 40m band as signals can be very strong and often are. To reach those numbers you need to turn Pre-Amp on with the Icom7300, but if you do th...

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity

Part 2 When we hook up the receiver to an antenna we get a lot more noise that when we use a resistor. Received atmospheric noise (lightning storms) power levels will be much higher and it is not unusual with a good antenna to see noise up to -91 dBm (S6) or more on the lower MW or HF bands in the ...

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity

Earlier I made some comments about Noise Figure and SNR in a receiver. Some members of this forum may not be familiar with these terms so I will attempt to explain what they mean and how they are used. I will try to give an overview and avoid being technically rigorous. PART 1 What is the term Noise...

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity

There has been a lively discussion on this subject so far. Several people have made comments on my posts and I want to clarify some issues. Geographic location Reception in Europe on frequencies below 30 MHz will be much different than what we experience in most places in North America (where I live...

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity

Guys I want to buy a Rsp and now I am confused: must I get the 1a or the duo? For glovisol the duo is more sensitive by 35 db, very good. For Roger it is 123-101 = 22 db, good in one post and now is 14 db, not so hot in the last post. But the 1a is far cheaper. Can someone explain and help? The RSP...

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity

In my previous post I showed that the RSPduo performs better than the RSP1A in the LF band under lab conditions. How do these receivers perform when connected to an outside antenna? I live in a semi-rural area and the nearest FM or AM radio station is many kilometers away. There is very little man-m...

Re: IF INPUT

The next release of SDRuno version 1.30 will store all the user settings in a file instead of the registry. It will be easy for a user to save and switch between settings files when running different hardware configurations.

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity

Hi z inputs cannot be compared with 50 ohm in of rsp1a. Better compare 50 ohm of all sets to have best idea. Sabrina1984 was wondering why the performance of the RSP1A was not doing as well as the NRD525 and looking for tips on how to improve performance. I made a few suggestions like using Low IF,...

Re: IF INPUT

SDRPLAY software works but the RSP1A receiver don't, think I read somewhere that the IF from the 101 is too low for the RSP1A, The RSP1A is very sensitive at this IF frequency. Reset the registry of the SDRuno software (under OPT in Main Window). This will put SDRuno back in the default condition f...
