What *nix distro ? To build an SdR box
OK, so rather than get a Pi ( OK, yes they are cheap) I was thinking of dropping a Linux distro on to one of many old Windows boxes I have kicking around here.
So any recommendations for a *nix distro that is 'ready to go' ?

Re: A Pi and RSP1a ....run via WebGUI ?
Think I am going to have to just stick with the handheld Uniden Bearcat Scanner. :( Was hoping to move to a modern solution, but it does rather look like there is not one as yet. Used to live in the in large family farm house, with a separate radio shack in the attic,, dark room, plus sheds too. Now...

Re: A Pi and RSP1a ....run via WebGUI ?
On my own home network I can listen to a single channel of voice quality audio from any ham radio in my radio shack using a Pi 3B with a delay of around 30 milliseconds, which is quite acceptable, but I had to write my own code to do it and can only listen to it using specialist apps like VLC or by...

Re: A Pi and RSP1a ....run via WebGUI ?
Umm maybe not all lost. All I really want to listen to,( and to get rid of my bulky old manual scanner on the bedside table ) is air band frequencies, so 118.00Mhz up to 136 Mhz. No interest in UHF air, just want the local frequencies at the airport (ATIS Twr etc) Really just to keep track of the lo...

Re: A Pi and RSP1a ....run via WebGUI ?
Ah well. not what i wanted to hear..so unless I spend £4000 plus on the device that I have seen that will do it, this project is dead int he water. have no interest any more in doing this sort of stuff. just want to plug something in and use it. Cheers for the reply ...and going to forget it all now...

Re: First setup VHF 118-160 MHz
Thanks for the link
Polarization won't be an issue once I get it out of the attic and make it vertical again.
OK, so one issue sorted. Now just need to work out what to do/buy to get a system working
Thanks
