Re: Sensitivity specification for RSP2?

The RSP/SDRuno combo easily allows to determine the sensitivity of the receiver. Sensitivity of a receiever best is specified by its noise figure NF. The noise figure is the factor between the fundamental thermal noise power of a resistor and the total noise power of the receiver. The resistor noise...

Re: RSP RFI

A common mode rejection filter has been added to the USB data lines. This will give some additional improvement in noise suppression. Addding the filter to a RSP2 is not easy at all. The traces on the board are VERY small. In conjunction with a very short connection between the ground ports of the U...

Works fine with SDRsharper(v0.5k) too.

Re: Block diagram for the RSP2?

The layout on the board is well structured. It is quite easy to follow the signal paths and identify the functional blocks. The HI-Z input has its own signal path: input port -> low pass filter (symmetrical) -> MSI001 input. Port A/B: Input port A/B -> switch, port A/B -> LNA, fixed gain -> attenuat...

SDRplay support for GNURadio on Windows

I am using the official GNURadio on Windows with the osmosdr plugin, which works with other receivers and supposedly also supports SDRplay. I already installed the Windows API/hardware driver from sdrplay.com, but osmosdr still doesn't recognize the receiver. How can I get SDRplay support for GNURad...

Re: Antenna mystery : UHF/VHF antenna better than longwire ?!

No myth.... At HF a well matched antenna will receive a noise level which is up to 50dB (!) above the noise level of the receiver. This may load the SDR receiver (having a limited daynamic range) to its limits. Less is more! The antenna will be good enough if the noise floor of the receiver will ris...

RSP RFI

Numerous articles and YouTube videos have been published on how to deal with RFI issues. Most proposals end up proposing creative shielding designs or by asking for a metallic casing. With limited reliable results. RF interference manifests itself as a higher noise floor and as spurious signals. To ...

Re: Dimensions of new case

That is absolutely correct. I put the receiver to an EMC test range. At both the test frequencies of 1MHz and 150MHz a shielded case did not improve the interference susceptibility at all. The antenna cable on the one side and the USB cable on the other side are part of a dipole. The induced voltage...

Re: Frequencies stability

When new my unit had a frequency offset of -5ppm. Aging of the crystal during the first couple of weeks brought it down to -8ppm. The capacitors of the XO have been adjusted then giving a stability of +/-1ppm (+/-450Hz at 450MHz) now. So, no complaints.
