Re: Spurious signals at low gain

Just to add more to the spurious signal debate - in low IF mode you can get IF images. I can find weak signals from BBC Radio 2 on 85.0 and 85.9 MHz on the SDR Play - and I can also find IF images on the RTL820T2 at twice the sampling rate. The SDRPlay ones work out as follows. Sampling rate 8.2 MHz...

Re: SDRPlay connection with Yaesu FT5000

There is a Span button that allows you to choose the bandwidth displayed but the maximum you can get this way is 5 MHz. To set the visible bandwidth in SDRConsole to 8 MHz you have to drag the edges of the red zone on the bottom frequency bar to widen it out. I just wish I could find a way to keep t...

Re: AM images on LF and MF range

A good quality low pass filter with a suitable cut-off is the only way to get rid of these 'images'. It might comfort you to know that the much more expensive SDRs requires filters to remove break through from strong stations.

Re: Antenna input socket

I recently fitted an sma panel mounting socket to my Lowe HF-225 - the type that has two nuts and bolts to secure - I then purchased (from China) a short length of adapter cable - sma on one end - f-connector on the other. There are loads of Chinese sellers doing sma plugs to so239 pigtails at good ...

Re: Antenna input socket

You can head over to cosycave.co.uk and look at the adapters they supply. Around £3.00 - £3.25 including p&p which is cheaper than uk based e-bay suppliers. IMO the problem with an sma connector is that, if you don't use an adapter, you need a short length of adapter cable as the cables that fit sma...

Re: A mixed bag, something good, something bad !

As SDRPlay will point out it is due to using a block converter to cover that frequency range. Go back six months and the SDRPlay couldn't cover that frequency range but some clever work with the API utilised the HF block converter (0-60 MHz) to down convert the missing segment. They also included th...

API 1.8.1 / ExtIO 3.7 - observations

Well done for making the change to the way the overall gain stays the same when LNA is turned on/off - but still giving a wider range of IF gain. At the very least it can mean not going into overload when engaging the LNA and it also gives the benefits of the LNA at a greater Gain reduction. A word ...

Re: No adjustments

Something else I've spotted with build 1430 and SDRPlay# - on WFM I only get audio on the stronger signals - it very much looks like the squelch - which doesn't normally affect WFM - is in operation and can't be over-ridden. Switching to NFM or AM - with obvious distortion - the squelch works. Has a...

Re: Anybody has the ADSB# Plugin and Audio Waterfall Plugin for SDR# 1361?

ADSB should be in the build 1361 sdrsharpfolder - not that I have ever used it. I have the following files adsbhub.exe, adsbparesr.exe, ADSBSharp.exe, ADSBSpy.exein there.

Re: Trouble getting started...

You haven't said which Software you are using. If it is SDR console there is a 'bug' in the start up settings - the gain is wound up fully to 0dB - it needs to be dragged down - as it is gain reduction - and something around 60 dB should give results. Setting gains too high can be a common fault . A...
