Re: Spurious signals at low gain

Yes, I see these as well and only at low gain settings. The 'humps' are slightly unstable in frequency as if they might be spurious oscillations or maybee very high harmonics of a clock frequency or something. It would be great to find out what they are!

Re: Grumbly audio with 0 IF but ok with offset IF.

Sounds strange. Are you sure your PC is up to the job? Try reducing the span to something like 1.5 MHz or 600 KHz and see if it clears up. The only other thing that springs to mind is that you may be listening to a transmission that you have positioned on top of the central DC spike. Clutching at st...

Re: getting started with sdrplay rsp1 unit is deaf

Have you downloaded the EXTIO and put it in the correct directory? Without this the show won't start.

Re: New features requests

Looking further into the future, it would be good if the next RSP could get rid of the spurious response to DAB which turns up in the milsat band around 255 MHz. I know this is a result of the particular conversion regime and the front end filtering, so perhaps a complete revision (perhaps even a wh...

Re: New features requests

That had crossed my mind, Gary. An SDRPlay-specific application, bundled with all the necessary files, plug-ins and DLL to make it work out of the box.

Re: SDR# End of support of the ExtIO interface?

Interesting thoughts, Bob. I seem to have settled on SDR# and to a lesser extent HDSDR. They both work well for me, and I have to say I've never even tried typing in a bandwidth, I just slide the edge of the filter. I don't get on well with SDR-Console. For me, there is far too much on the screen an...

Re: SDRPlay lost SDR#-support ?

This is a pity, as I find SDR# very good and the SDRPlay works well with it. Present users will be able to continue using it as long as they don't try to update, but nyone who buys an SDRPlay and tries to download and use SDR# with it will be disappointed. Youssef seems a bit prickly about having co...

Re: signal strength very high in HDSDR

I think the AGC system in the SDRPlay always tries to keep the strongest signal in the selected bandwidth at peak level (ie just under clipping level). If there are no strong signals, the whole of the noise floor will rise as the gain is increased. That's how I read it anyway.

Re: am or mw reception

I agree with Sasan. The SDRPlay is a great SDR (probably the best at the price) but the AGC will always try to keep the strongest signal at maximum level. This can cause a lot of clutter, especially if you are using a big aerial or something that provides a lot of signal like the Wellbrook loop. Tur...
