Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity
I found the problem. My expensive Teflon jacketed coax from the transformer to ant port had a short in it. I fixed it by the method.. I connected the power supply across it, spark, no more whiskers. Its working now. ...A screen shot of the 630 meter band. Im using a 480 khz ceramic resonator across ...

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity
Well it seems OK on VHF I receive 2 or 3 weather stations with just a small wire, still deaf on MW/LW. The RSP1A does not perform as well on LF as the RSP2 and the RSPduo when using a poor antenna. This is because the RSP1A has a higher noise floor. See screenshots below (same antenna - an HF G5RV) ...

Re: 60v p-p rf
I found that my scope 10v/div setting is not right, oxidized contacts. Its only about 6 v p-p, unloaded, hi Z. Antenna is about 3k ohm impedance.

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity
I have Linux, as such is barley supported with cubic sdr, a very limited app. Does anyone know where the config file is for cubicsdr? My scope (BK-1472c) hasn't been used much and the contacts for the 10v/div setting were oxidized, thus showing 60 v p-p. Rotating the selection dial a few times indic...

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity
That 6 volts is the unloaded antenna, before the 8:1 transformer, so the voltage at the 1a is less than 320 mV rms is <3 dBm with a 50 ohm load. 0 dBm? Thats 1 milliwatt. Well this 1a is headed for the trash can, POS.

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity
Well my 1a was working great, but now its not. Its almost deaf. I though it was the antenna but I checked it several times and its seems OK with the yesau 450d. theres 6 volts p-p Rf from local stations. What I did was loaded the driver for the RTL-SDR and was comparing VHF reception, the 1a is much...

60v p-p rf
I put a scope on my long antenna and it reads 60 volts peak to peak RF from local AM stations.

Re: Loop antenna for SDR question
An outside antenna is much better. Get or make the biggest loop practical.

Re: Mains noise
Phil, I hope your eye is getting better. Ive found that the USB chargers make noise, as well as LED lighting, florescent lights. Insulators on the main overhead wires can leak causing RFI (noise). If you find a noisy insulator you can call the power company and they will come out. I located mine wit...

Re: RSP1A Longwave sensitivity
You guys like signal reports..here the Aviation NDB band between 200 and 240 khz. Lots of signals. Farthest NDB I copied is: 214 khz YIO, Pond Inlet, NU. Again 900 ft wire running LINUX Mint. I added 18 turns to the parallel tuned circuit for more Q. I am above the 1a noise floor now. Th elightning ...
