Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

The AD9850 fits the bill fine for me as well, Don, but getting a working AD9851 has now become something of a quest for me - just for the sake of having one, I suppose. I'm staying clear of the AD9910 and its cousins for now because I know it would end up as just another trinket waiting for a use to...

Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

No problem , Steve - I'm doing things that I enjoy! As for Trackgen not always starting, my workaround is simply to start the analyser then click on the Trackgen com port again, which always seems to get it going, but it's good that you've now got it sorted for the next release. Time is passing by s...

Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

Success, Steve!! I've tested a Nano with both the AD9850 and AD9851 hex files, and they both work as intended (making due allowance for my half-working AD9851, of course). I also tested an Uno with the AD9850 and it worked as well, so I guess the other three hex files will also be ok. Have you any t...

Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

Hi Steve, I'm still waiting for the seller to respond to my message, but my plan for the second AD9851 board is to replace the oscillator with the 30MHz one from the first board to see if I can conjour up a working one, assuming that the innards of the 9851 chip haven't been mangled by trying to run...

Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

I managed it to get the AD9850 working with your files. Mega2650 and Uno/Nano are working. Have you actually managed to get a Nano board fully working with Trackgen? In theory, the Nano should work the same as an Uno, but I can't get mine to be recognised by Trackgen no matter how I wire it up. I c...

Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

Some good news and some bad from me: the second AD9851 module I ordered arrived from China this morning, and it looks really nice - 3 times the size of the usual boards, with four SMA connectors, which would make it a very good board to build into a box as a small signal generator. Unfortunately, th...

Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

In the case of the board with jumpers on it, jumper J1 must be in place to enable serial mode. Hi Steve - in the case of my AD9851 it doesn't appear to make any difference whether J1 is on or off, as it always starts up in serial mode regardless of the jumper. The jumper does actually short D2 to g...

Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

maybe we can identify one module, from on source that reliably works How do you propose that we do that, Don? Buy a dozen over a few months from each of several suppliers and see who has the highest "working" rate? Steve's software already works, and the modules all appear to be the same with just ...

Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

Having had a look at Steve's "Don_DDS_Test.zip" file posted on page 10, and knowing now that my AD9851 chip has been "blessed" with a 4x instead of 6x multiplier, I changed the dds.clockFrequency line in the .ino file to 120000000.0 (ie 4x 30MHz), and my AD9851 now outputs the correct set frequency,...

Re: Feedback for version 0.9a here

Hi Kees_01,

Well, that would confirm my suspicions, even though that post is now five years old. I bet some suppliers still have boxes of them which they are slowly trying to shift! We'll see how good the AliExpress "satisfaction guarantee" is when I report it ...
