Re: To RSP1A or not?
I have one of the original (blue box) RSP1's here, although I retired it to make way for an RSP2, mainly for the switchable antenna inputs. I now have a DUO, mainly for the diversity/noise cancelling feature. The front end filtering has been changed and improved on successive models and this reduces...

Re: Cheap L-BAND patch antenna (for inmarsat?)
I picked up a cheap active L-band patch antenna from an online seller and stuck it in place of the driven element of a homebew 1500 MHz yagi. Pic attached. Second pic is some of the stuff I received. The antenna was indoors and beaming through a brick wall, I'm sure it would have been a lot better o...

Re: Nearby strong AM broadcasting station
Hi Chris. If you are worried about harm to your RSP2 from 730 AM, I doubt the signal will come anywhere near strong enough to actually damage your front end, but you will almost certainly get some trouble with images of the station appearing within the NDB band. I live about 10 miles south of a big ...

Re: Low noise amp
AFAIK, the RSP's alter the s-meter calibration as the gain is changed, so the reported signal strength is always shown no matter how you fiddle with the gain. Now if you could alter the gain of your pre-amp, you would see the signal strength change as the RSP is not aware of external amplification o...

Re: DCF 77 77.5KHZ
Generally speaking, if you have a low local noise level, wires and active mini-whips should work well. but if your noise level is high (like most of us these days), an active loop such as the Wellbrook 1530 will be the best. If you have the ability/skill to build an amplified loop you can save a lot...

Re: sdrplay duo and uhf
That's disappointing, fiann. I often tune to around 255 MHz and listen to the South American pirates operating through the US Milcom satellites, and there's an old military satellite on 237 MHz that comes over every now and then. The reception of these on my RSP2 is just as good as it is on my other...

Re: sdrplay duo and uhf
The RSP's can suffer from DAB images on parts of the UHF band. Have you tried enabling the DAB filter?

Re: my problem with ..uno
It always used to be called the 'Post Detection Band Pass Filter', I can't recall when it changed. I leave it on all the time.

Re: AM Broadcast Stations on 22 MHz
That should work. I had problems on longwave with out of band HF and MW signals. I built a 3 pole elliptic LP filter in an Altoids can for the HiZ port that cuts everything above 520Khz. Works great, virtually no OOB stuff, it also lowered the noise levels somewhat on LW. Mike I did the same and th...

Re: This thing doesn't work
It's difficult to spot what he's doing wrong. In the early part of the section the RSP is in overload, but later on it's not. He must be doing something wrong, as I've just tried my RSP2 under similar conditions and signal strengths and signal is perfectly readable. I thought I'd spotted his mistake...
