Wire wound resistors do not resist.....sounds weird but they act as a coil, ergo they are useless.
A coil has an impedance, such is not the same as resistance, sadly both expressed in Ohm.
AC Ohm is quite different from DC Ohm, that is the problem.

Re: RA0SMS vs PA0RDT Active Mini Whip - RA0SMS is Very Noisy - Why?
I have the mini-whip as well and use it only when there is lightning. The reason you may not put it on a metal pole is because the coax cable is part of the antenna. So if you put it on metal pole the pole acts as an common-mode-choke and the "antenna" stops working. What you do is find a distance o...

Re: is this LW reception?
Also lower the RF-gain to about 50%.

Re: is this LW reception?
Are you using Zero-IF mode? If not, that could solve the mixing problem.
Also, do not set RF-gain to maximum with SDR devices, if they overload ghost-signals appear.
Best is to stick at about 50%.

Re: a rtl_tcp compatible IQ server for the RSP
Updated the driver to support the following sample-rates and tested against websdr.org software:
62500/128000/256000/512000/1024000/2048000/2880000
They work fine now.
As websdr.org software needs wider bandwidths it may work well for others too.

Re: Long Wave and AM Broadcast interference
In CubicSDR it's no problem, select the IF-mode before you start the device.
Decimate is not needed to select, makes not that much of a difference.
I myself use Zero-IF where possible combined with RfNotch if needed.

Re: Extending the range of a Discone antenna down to 3.6 MHz
My money is mostly on the coax and some effect from the whip.
