Re: SDRPlay TCXO?

Hello Usagi, It is possible, but it requires modification of the PCB. To do this, you would need to remove C65, C66 and X1 from the PCB and apply the new clock signal to Pin X0 of the MSi2500. Care would be needed with shielding as any noise pick up on this clock line could result in a serious degra...

Re: Scan

Dear Scooby300, In principle this should be perfectly possible as long as you use appropriate scanning software. You would of course also need an appropriate antenna system for such a wide range of frequencies. Perhaps someone has experience of this and can recommend something. Alternatively, if you...

Re: Broadcast FM duplicate image at +240mhz

Dear Kev, The RSP uses a block converter to cover two regions of spectrum: For HF (100 KHz – 60 MHz), it works as a block up-converter and for the lower end of the UHF band (250 MHz-430 MHz), it works as a block down converter. The chipset was never intended to used in this second band, but when we ...

Re: Bandfilter

Dear Eckhard, The RSP uses a block up-converter to cover the frequency range from 100 KHz to 60 MHz. This uses a fixed frequency first LO which can be selected to be 120 MHz, 144 MHz or 168 MHz in the new API/ExtIO. With the old API the first LO was fixed at 120 MHz and this is what is currently use...

Re: Bandfilter

Dear Eckhard,
Have you been able to identify what would be the normal carrier frequency for these spurious signals? if so, please let us know as it will help us identify any possible work around strategy.

Sincerely

Re: Broadcast FM duplicate image at +240mhz

Hi again Usagi, A homodyne receiver will always have quadrature phase and amplitude imbalances. S/W packages such as HDSDR and SDR Sharp contain facilities to correct these imbalances and effectively suppress these images. This will not work for the images that you were seeing at 333 MHz. Sincerely ...

Re: Broadcast FM duplicate image at +240mhz

Hi Usagi This results from the architecture that the RSP uses to cover the range 250 MHz to 380 MHz. Across this frequency range, the signal is first down converted using a 120 MHz LO, so a signal at 333.3 MHz will be mixed down to an IF of 213.3 MHz. The synthesizer is than set to 213.3 MHz and the...

Re: disappointing performance so far

Hello again Guy, I am glad that you have managed to make some progress. Regarding AGC, when using SDR Sharp or HDSDR, there are two independent AGC systems that you can access and they operate completely seperately from each other. The one that you can see in the ExtIO window, actually controls the ...

Re: disappointing performance so far

Hello Guy, Getting the best out of a SDR platform can take a bit of time and effort, partly because these devices are designed to be highly flexible to cope with a very wide range and variety of signals and also because as you have already intimated, the application software can be very complex. Whe...

Re: Sdrplay & Ant500

We have no direct experience of this antenna, but on the face of it, it should be suitable for use with the RSP between VHF and upper end of UHF.

Perhaps there is someone out there with direct experience......?

Sincerely
