Re: HIGH PASS FILTER FOR OPTIMUM HF RECEPTION
can you please let me know what it is that you used to generate the signal so you cold test your filter? The low-cost noise generators sold on ebay come in several different versions. Some of these do not have an output which is flat across the HF band unless they are modified (some owners have don...

Re: What’s going on here ?? Receiving but no antenna
In order to receive a signal you need to have an antenna with two sides. A dipole, for example, has two wires connected to a feedline (like twinlead or coax). A vertical antenna has one element (wire, mast or whip) and uses a ground or counterpoise as the other. So what is happening in your case whe...

Re: Shortwave reception help
illllm , In order to provide you with some useful assistance we need to know what type of setup you have at your location. Without knowing the problem it is not prudent to offer solutions. Can you provide some more details ... - Are you in an apartment, townhouse or a house? - What type of shielded ...

Re: Extending the range of a Discone antenna down to 3.6 MHz
@glovisol The discone itself NEVER will receice any reasonable signal at low frequencies! It is much to small compared to the wavelength. JMG - I agree with you. The receiving element of this antenna is actually the outer shield of the transmission line. Much like the PA0RDT mini-whip (so called e-...

Re: Extending the range of a Discone antenna down to 3.6 MHz
ON5HB -Bas, That was a very good description of the "third wire" in coax cable and how it can produce common mode receive and transmit problems. Properly designed chokes, in the right place can result in considerable noise reduction. Thanks for the posting the link to the G3TXQ site and the common m...

Re: Setting up SDRuno as a panadapter for K3 with RSPduo
SDRuno has limited support for IF panadapter operation
- clicking on spectrum display does not change frequency
- no offsets for different modes (USB,LSB, CW etc.)
If the above are features you want try HDSDR or SDR-Console V3

Re: Omnirig and Ports.....the mystery "server"
Virtual Com port splitters like VSPE can be bad news with some transceivers. The transceiver can get confused when two programs are trying to communicat at the same time. Here is a suggestion that should work for you. Get SDRuno and the 590SG working perfectly with each other. This is quite easy to ...

Re: Current draw from SDRduo when plugged into USB port
Hey guys, How can I measure the current drawn by a USB? I've seen a thread (on WindowsSecrets forum I guess) where the guys recommend a multimeter and a hacked up cable to measure the actual USB current. Though I think there should be an easier solution. There are many cheap devices you can insert ...

Re: Current draw from SDRduo when plugged into USB port
My SDRduo draws 5 ma. when plugged in but not connected to an SDR program. About 60 to 70 ma when SDRuno is started but Play not pushed and 140 ma. when SDRuno is running.

Re: Indoor dual band antenna
J-poles don't like to be too close to other objects - they detune easily.
How about a mobile 2M/70cm dual band mag mount antenna stuck on a cookie sheet. Not great but easy to setup and you can go mobile if you have the occasion.
