Is RSP2 IF connection to R8500 safe (9VDC)?

I was going to connect my RSP2 to the IF output on my Icom R8500, but noted that jack outputs a 10.7 MHz IF signal with 9VDC. Is direct cabling safe with that 9VDC on the center pin?

I could just connect to a Tee at the receive antenna port of the R8500 ... was hoping for wider bandwidth of IF connection.

thanks
greg

Hi Greg,

You could take an Ohmeter and test resistance between centre pin and ground of your RSP2. If you get "open circuit" or a very high resistance reading (100 K or more) it means you have a capacitor insulated input on the RSP and you can safely connect to the R8500. If, on the contrary the RSP2 input is DC terminated, you could place a capacitor in series yourself by building a small adapter.
