I can't help but wonder if, will all the success of SDRplay products across the spectrum of radio listening, does SDRplay have any plans to develop an SDR transceiver? :ugeek:

They should, more than half of the job is done, already.

Hi John,

It will be too expensive, as for just 1200 euro/dollar you can get the Icom7300 and does everything up to 70MHz.
I doubt you can beat that.

I have looked at Anan and the price blew me out of the pond. Just too expensive.
They all are and they do not offer much over the 7300.

The transceiver I had in mind would be QRP, black box (no knobs) and not much bigger than the current series of receivers. Something along the lines of the old Flex 1500 which was quite small and highly capable. I do have an Anan-10e but they are no longer made. In fact, I think only SunSDR makes a black box QRP SDR transceiver - overly expensive IMO, especially for the new ham wanting to "test the waters".

There are at least three (that I know of) SDR Transceivers that are currently on the market for around $600-700. Would be pretty hard to beat that kind of pricing. The two most recent entries seem to be of reasonable quality - although I don't own one.
