Can I get Meteor m2 with RSP1a and SDRuno
Can I get Meteor m2 with RSP1a and SDRuno
Hello All.
I'm having a great time with my RSP1a. I have worked out the SDRuno, what a great piece of software. Downloading the NOAA weather Satellites is brilliant fun.
Like everything, what can I add now? I see the Russian Sat (Meteor-m2.) I read a few articles but I'm afraid at my age, I can't do all that's asked. However, I did read where an opposition has got it down to installing a few files.
Can someone lead me to an article or explain on here how to bring up an image from this weather satellite.
Thanks to anyone who can help,
Jim ZL2BMH

Yes it's possible to do it but not with SDRUno (yet)

Re: Can I get Meteor m2 with RSP1a and SDRuno
Wow, that's brilliant Mike.
I have Sharp# installed, So now I need the QPSK pluggin and the DDE Tracking pluggin.
This is all new to me, but nothing the net won't explain. Thanks very much Mike. I have the SDR RSP1a so all should be good.
Again many thanks, and for such a quick answer too.

Re: Can I get Meteor m2 with RSP1a and SDRuno
You need an old version of SDRSharp, version 1361 or earlier, the newer versions will not support the ExtIO plugin which is available here in the downloads section of this site. Also the demod and tracker plugin you need must be the DotNet 3.5 version. The old SDRSharp 1361 is here: https://www.qsl.net/4/4z4zq//sdrsharp/

Re: Can I get Meteor m2 with RSP1a and SDRuno
Again, Mike, I thank you for your assistance.
You are obviously very versed in this hobby. Are you able to tell me why, when I installed Orbitron with SDRuno it affects SDRuno to such an extent that it won't open so I have to re-install SDRuno.
I have a fairly new and powerful computer with W10.
I am an old coot and not versed in computers. although I feel comfortable enough with Sharp# and Orbitron plus the plugins.
Also, why does Sharp not require that virtual pipe that WXtoimg does?
If you or somebody else can answer these two questions I would be very grateful.
Regards,
Jim.

Re: Can I get Meteor m2 with RSP1a and SDRuno
To answer your last question first. I believe that Sharp receives it's tracking data over a DDE link while SDRUno receives it over a virtual comm port.
I haven't used SDRUno with Orbitron recently, but as I recall WispDDE must be set up to emulate a TS-2000 radio to communicate with SDRUno over a virtual comm port. The baud rate and port numbers of the virtual comm port must also match in WispDDE and SDRUno.
I can't explain why SDRUno is crashing.

Re: Can I get Meteor m2 with RSP1a and SDRuno
Friends,
As a newbie, I'm taking this post to ask the following:
I have successfully set up WXtoImg and SDRuno/RSP2pro for receiving the NOAA 15,18 and 19 birds.
Is it possible, by addning some more software, to automatically receive Meteor M1 and/or M2 signals with the same hardware ?
I understand that WXtoImg can not handle the Meteor satellites but would like the same, automated functionality for M1/M2 ones.
Possible ??
Thanks in advance for your information!

Re: Can I get Meteor m2 with RSP1a and SDRuno
To do real-time LRPT decoding of Meteor satellites requires the QPSK plugin for SDRSharp. Current versions of SDRSharp do not recognize the SDRPlay line of SDR's. Older versions such as v1361 do, through SDRPlay's EXTio plugin. The process can be automated with the Tracking DDE client plugin for SDRSharp and Orbitron satellite tracking software communicating through WispDDE with SDRSharp .
