Why 24mhz Reference
I am certainly no expert in this area but all of my test equipment uses 10mhz references. Also both of my GPSDO references are 10mhz.
Why did SDRPlay select 24mhz for a reference frequency ?

Hello Lee,
The chipset within the RSP range of products requires a 24 MHz reference clock. The Leo Bodnar GPSDO is capable of delivering a 24 MHz output.

As this thread is already open, I have a few questions about this.
Which Leo Bodnar model is best suited as there are 2 types on sale? Secondly, can the output from these devices be directly connected to the SDRplay or is there need for some attenuation or wave transformation (square to pure sinewave). I have some interrest but do not want to destroy my SDRduo with a wrong input signal.

Leo's unit is the first one that came to my mind as well because it is the only one I know that has a variable output.

With the RSPduo, you can direct connect to the Leo Bodnar GPSDO without any kind of interface circuit. We recommend the dual output version as it allows the use of a separate 10 MHz output for use with general instruments which as has already been remarked upon typically use a 10 MHz clock. Either device should work fine, but we have tested our units with the device with the dual outputs.

GPSDO for 24MHz also is easy to get, please check the following GPSDO we designed, about 150 USD, include 10MHz and 24MHz output, with LCD screen:
