75/50 ohm for RSP1a connection

Post by HKIAA » Mon Apr 22, 2019 6:26 pm

Hello,
Just ordered RSP1a . SDR receivers antenni connector is 50 ohm. My antenna (fm antenni range 87—108 MHz) cable is 75 ohm.
I not so familar with these converters 75/50 ohm .
Is there any instructions for these converters . Or is commercial converters available .

Rgds,

For FM signals are generally so strong you can take the mis-match loss between 50 and 75 Ohm and safely connect the antenna to the rsp receiver. Remember though that it should be advisable to have some protection in between, should you have lightning nearby and related induced transients. A small choke in parallel, maybe.

There's no need to convert. The mismatch loss will be tiny and the quoted impedances are nominal, likely to be significantly different from the spec anyway.
