Re: Orbital Weather Satellite APT Image Reception

There is now a "WXtoIMG Restored" web site having the software and license information for WXtoIMG: https://wxtoimgrestored.xyz/ As an alternative to building a QFH antenna, there is a well-designed QFH antenna on the web store for Diamond Antenna. Refer to the Diamond DP-KE137. https://www.hamradio...

Re: GOES 16 reception help

Looks like you are receiving the GOES HRIT signal fairly well, though it is hard to tell for sure based on the scale you have selected. The signal circled in red below is the GOES HRIT signal (when sending its "null" data pattern and not yet transmitting images). You need an SNR of around 6.5 dB or ...

Re: HRIT and LRIT Low-Cost System

The new country and state boundary feature of the USA-Satcom GOES XRIT File Manager allows determining where weather phenomena are occurring by state more easily.

Re: HRIT and LRIT Low-Cost System

Now that GOES 17 is transmitting images, you can get an even better view. (Note: GOES 17 is not yet in full service at this time.) The HRIT images from both GOES 16 and GOES 17 provide a nice view of the Earth via the SDRplay RSP2 (or RSP1A or RSPduo), NOAA GOES Satellites, NooElec SAWbird GOES LNA ...

Re: Separation of antennae A and B

My understanding is that powering an external LNA on port B of the RSP that uses more current than can be supplied by the RSP will simply cause the RSP to shut down power to the external LNA and not cause any damage. Regarding optimized gain settings in SDRuno for NOAA satellite passes, refer to the...

Re: DDE interface

If you have a full-featured version of WXtoImage (or other software that uses a Kenwood command set and serial port interface for frequency control), you can use its Doppler capabilities to communicate with SDRuno and control the RSP2 frequency. WXtoImage, for example, will then automatically set up...
