Re: Proposed upgrades to RSP1 no cancelled ??
225 to 425 is not really usable even with external bandpass filters fitted due to images. Keith You need a sharp low pass filter - cutting off just below the MW band. This might be of interest http://www.radiohobbyist.org/blog/?p=1894 add a couple of extra sections for even sharper attenuation. David

Re: The new SDRPlay: RSP2
There is a 14 day money back guarantee - "if you are not happy for any reason"......I'm not happy with this news, last week I bought 3 units of the rsp1. If I had known there was a new receiver, I would have waited a week to buy the new one

Re: Impossible To Install
Not directly relevant - but my AV software (F-secure through TalkTalk Homesafe) has recently decided to automatically block "setup.exe" and "install.exe". Actually it didn't block them it "helpfully" deleted the file(s) as they were flagged as potentially harmful as they could install unwanted progr...

Re: Ferrite and interference spikes?
My initial interest is trying to detect meteors by the reflections they give of signals from a VHF transmitter which is too far away for direct reception, and I'm trying the Graves transmitter on 143.050 MHz, which seems to be widely used for this purpose. No luck yet! If you want to detect meteors...

Re: Would wrapping the unit in AlFoil tape help shield it?
But when the noise is caught by the antenna, nothing helps There is some form of solar powered lighting nearby which puts out around 30dB above the noise floor shortly after sunset As seen on the waterfall at thje bottom end of the FM broadcast band. I'm 99% sure it is solar powered and not just on...

Re: Signal mirrors all over the band.
In the SP Window click on the ADV button (just to left of the PLAY! button) and check whether the DC/IQ button has been unchecked (dark instead of white). This would be one cause of the mirror signal/DC spike symptoms you report. The centre spike would then cause distortions to centre frequency sign...

cosycave.co.uk are worth looking at - how good they are a 2 GHz I wouldn't know.

Re: Would wrapping the unit in AlFoil tape help shield it?
As F1BJB has done I wrapped my SDRPlay in aluminium foil the day I bought it - and it reduced interference on weak FM signals from the SDRPlay to nothing. I made sure the foil was grounded to the antenna connector - using a small cable tie to pull it tight - and made sure it was not connected to the...

Re: Magnetic Loop Antenna with SDRPlay
Couldn't a guy just use a 3 foot diameter loop of copper pipe and match the impedance to the SDRplay input with a balun of some description? Yes - I've tried it - it works. Not having any copper tube to hand I used a 10 ft length of RG6 U - fitted f-connectors at each end and used a barrel connecto...

Re: will upgrade to 12 bit sdrplay help me?
I need to correct something in my previous post regarding the S/N ratio that can be achieved with an RTL dongle. I don't know why but running SDR# 1430 I've found that some of my local radio stations are showing S/N ratios up near the 60dB mark without the dongle completely overloading. There are pr...
