Re: Why you should avoid RG-58
Sorry, can't help myself, great topic ;-) There's other factors that influence this. If it was ladder line or a twisted pair instead of coax it wouldn't have any "coax shielding" yet we all know it still has just fine noise immunity because the wanted signal is present as a differential between the ...

Re: RSP2 USB failure?
Hi Lou, Sorry if my post sounded cryptic, the answer is warranty ... https://www.sdrplay.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2695 I didn't think about warranty; after the RSP2 died I missed it so much I ordered an RSP1A from Strictly Ham which I now have and can say it performs beautifully. Meanwhile ...

Re: RSP2 USB failure?
Just a closing note to say thank you so much to everyone at SRDPlay who were not just quick and efficient but went out of their way to be as helpful as possible, and thank you for the unanticipated resolution, it is much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Phil
Sincerely,
Phil

RSP2 USB failure?
Sadly my RSP2 died this morning, one moment the 40m band was alive and the SDRUno waterfall was happily recording that fact, next moment it locked up. No transmissions involved, just looking round the bands as usual. Turns out that the RSP2 no longer shows up on any of my computer's USB bus. Of cour...
Re: RSP RFI
Hallo Phil, Hi again Heinrich, thanks for taking the trouble to reply in detail, what a comprehensive arrangement you've put in place, a genuine pleasure to read about. My location before this - which is 40+ bush acres in semi-rural Tasmania, with the radio shack inside a large Colorbond metal shed...
Re: RSP RFI
The major problem is noise coming from badly filtered devices in the neighbourhood (like switched PS, lawn mowing robots and all the rest) and devices specially designed to distribute high level broadband noise (like homeplug powerline PLC/PLT modems). We cannot do anything against such noise which...

Re: PC (laptop) power induces significant noise
Many thanks in advance for any ideas Just a thought: Try disconnecting your antenna from the RSP's antenna connector, if the interference bars go away then the interference is being received by your antenna. If its being received by your antenna then you should read all you can on the subject of el...

Re: Is it makes sense to wait RSP2A?
" The RSP1A uses the same ADC chip as the RSP1" Perhaps that's why it's name is RSP1 with an "A" on the end? I think it's astonishing that such a device as the RSP1A can be created and marketed, along with SDRUno, for US$99. The amateur radio market is microscopic when compared with the vast number ...
