Panadapter question - mouse click issue

Post by DanielSpokane » Thu Aug 01, 2019 5:18 am

I have my SDRPlay RSP2 hooked up as a panadapter for my Kenwood TS850. I have the IF out hooked to the SDRplay input and am using omni rig to control the transceiver. For the most part it works great. I can use the mouse wheel to change frequencies and I can also change frequencies directly in the RX control window and my Kenwood TS850 goes to where ever SDRuno is at.

It works great except one issue. Whenever I use rig control and run it like described... and I click on an area in the main spectrum window it does NOT go to the frequency I click. The mouse wheel works to change frequencies but I can't just click on a frequency in the spectrum and have it go to that frequency. If I'm using SDRuno whiteout rig control it works. But as soon as I use rig control and it goes to the IF of my transceiver, I can no longer click and have it go to that frequency. Unfortunately it makes it a lot more cumbersome to get to the signals I see on the spectrum.

Does anyone else have this problem? Am I missing something? I've looked through the settings dozens of times and can't find a way to do it. Any help would be very very much appreciated.

Daniel

I sporadically have that problem, it is very annoying. I find that I can restart SDRUno and the clicking works correctly for a while and will then revert back to not responding to clicks as you have experienced.

This is a known issue when using SDRuno

What does "IF Output Mode" mean in the context of the bug?

When the problem happens to me, I have not made any changes or done anything.
It will literally be working one minute and then I click to change and it does not work.
Nothing else was done or changed in between when it worked and when it did not.

When using a RIG that is IF FED out into the RSP using SDRuno

That scenario does not apply to me then.
I have an antenna connected directly to the SDRPlay.
Perhaps there are multiple bugs causing the same issue?

Thanks for the info. Glad to know it's not a problem with my setup.
I wonder if they will get that fixed in an upcoming update? Seems like a pretty important feature for people using it as a panadapter. Hope they are able to get that fixed.

cmh31909 you could have improper com port settings ie: baud rate, parity and or DTR/RTS settings.
This could cause these types of communication issues.

I think I must have misunderstood the problem. My issue is not that SDRUno will not tune an external radio, it won't tune itself to another freq. when this problem happens.

When using Omnirig for bidirectional communication (to and from the rig) within SDRuno and issues come up, 9x out of 10 it's either an incorrect baud rate, parity setting and or DTR/RTS setting within Omnirig, The virtual com port for the rig or the rig itself.

If you uncheck RSYN1 buttton within the RX-CONTROL does SDRuno operate properly when clicking on signals?
Is the step size set correctly for the mode you want to monitor? (Right click the frequency readout in the RX CONTROL panel)
