SDRuno installation crashes on Windows 10 in VMWare

Post by E63S4Me » Sat Aug 31, 2019 2:29 am

Hi All,

I'm running a 2019 model 15" MacBook Pro with OS X 10.14.6 and VMWare Fusion 11.1.1 and a Windows 10 VM.

The Windows 10 installation proceeds normally in the VM until I get to the part where I'm supposed to plug in the device and let the installation finish. When I plug in the USB cable and let VMWare know I'd like to let Windows use this USB device I get a BSD (blue screen of death) and the Windows VM reboots.

Suggestions welcome.

I'd also welcome suggestions for running native OS X software to use the SDRplay RSPduo device I just purchased.

I went through the installation again after configuring VMWare to use USB 2.0 and to also always connect the RSP to the Windows VM rather than asking and this seemed to have cleared the BSD and allow the installation to complete OK.

However, when I launch SDRuno I get a message that says no available RSPs found, please check cables, etc.

Changed the VMWare settings back to USB 3.0 and that didn't make any difference.

Was able to get SDRuno up and running.

Had to go into the device manager and have it manually search for a device driver. It went out and found an appropriate driver and updated and then said it was working correctly.

Following that I was able to start SDRuno and connect to the receiver and start listening to stations :)
