Port Sharing or use USB and COM port with a TS 590S
Hi
My main rig is a TS 590S (NOT SG)
I use Logger32 as my logging software and SDRUno with an RSP1 (not A) for SDR.
Both I have working fine independantly using the COM. port on the TS 590S. Evereything works fine so long as only ONE of these programs is running.
Now I would like to be able to use both Logger32 and SDRUno at the same time but this is not possible as both packages use the same COM. port.
e.g. I want to be able to use my loggin software say within the loggin software if a DX spot appears the rig jumps to the QRG and SDRUno also follows.
One solution would be to purchase port splitter software but people using this seem to have had mixed success.
The TS 5909S has two ports a COM port and a USB port.
Would it be possible to have Logger32 use the USB port on the TS 590S while SDRUno continues to use the COM port?
Both ports should then have different names.
Before I start trying above any advice would be appreciated.

It is possible to use the USB port and the COM port on some radios concurrently. The radio is then acting as a hub and when you change frequency on the radio, logging program or SDRuno all three will be synchronized. You may have to adjust the polling interval to avoid update collisions.
Another method that works well and was posted here earlier is to use the CAT option in SDRuno. You connect SDRuno to the TS590 using Omni-Rig and the logging program to the CAT port of SDRuno which emulates a basic Kenwood radio. The CAT port operation is described in the User manual. You need to install a virtual COM port program like VSPE or com0com to connect the logging program to the CAT port of SDRuno.

The only option of know of that will allow the above to work is VSPE. In VSPE creating a com port spiltter.
