Raspberry Pi 3 B+ Support

Post by sdrplay » Tue Mar 20, 2018 1:36 pm

The existing SDRplay RPi image needs updating to support the Raspberry Pi 3 B+, which we will do shortly. However, if you have another Raspberry Pi 3 (not B+) you can make the changes required for it to boot on the B+...

1. Boot the SDRplay SD-card in the non B+ device as normal.
2. Open Terminal Window
3. Run...
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo rpi-update

This will make the SD card bootable on the Raspberry Pi 3 B+

Another thing I noticed during testing was the power consumption for the B+ is higher than previous models so make sure you have a good PSU. I tried a few 2A supplies that didn't work, but a good 2.5A power supply worked fine.

We'll make an announcement as soon as we've got the image updated for the RPi 3B+

Note: for those into different SBC devices, you might want to try out the Odroid-C2 as with full Gigabit Ethernet support - I could get 10 MHz bandwidth remotely using SoapyRemote to my PC pretty easily. Low CPU load as well. It does need some forced air cooling in my opinion :-)
