Sampling rate vs. max USB rate

Post by harry4516 » Mon Sep 09, 2019 8:30 pm

I have a question regarding the sampling rate.
The SDRplay is specified with max 10 MS/s. With 14 bit for each sample and twice of that for I and Q.
This is a data rate of 10 * 14 * 2 = 280 Mbit/s

But the USB 2.0 interface can only transfer 40 Mbit/s maximum.

That looks strange, what is the mistake in my calculation ?

Thanks, Harry

I'm no expert in matters digital, but I think at 10 Ms/s, the samples are reduced to 8 bit. I could be wrong (I often am...).

40 megabytes, not megabits.
