I'll try out the JT9 decoder this evening. I forget what the mode is called (JT6?), but I used to have a lot of fun decoding stuff on 6 Meters using meteor scatter. Then local noise levels started getting bad and ended that.

If you want to learn about LW and what you can hear, the Longwave Club of America, which has been around for a very long time, is the place to be. It specializes, as the name suggests, on stuff 530 khz and down. The URL is: https://www.lwca.net/

The US navy has been using VLF with giant antennas to communicate with submerged submarines since the sixties of last century. They have three sites around the world for this very purpose.

Loop antennas are certainly more efficient in VLF than "relay tuned 15' noise reducing vertical antennas", even Dallas Lankfort, the guru of useless pocket antennas, realised this fact.
