New API Release V1.8 ?
New API Release V1.8 ?
I noticed this new API release V1.8.0 listed for Windows in the NEWS thread, as being available to download, but cannot find it on the website!
Best I could find and download was V1.6.0 (22/12/2015). Also noted in the News thread that the new API V 1.8.0 should be used with the latest EXTIO V 3.5 but instead found V 3.6 (26/12/2015) available for download.
Is the new API V1.8.0 available for download?
I placed an order for the SDRplay on the 29/12/2015 and should receive it, (Australia) next week. That is unbelievably good service for this time of the year! Thanks for the quick turnaround and I'm looking forward to having a play with the SDC and seeing what it offers. Hoping to sort out the right drivers, etc, before the unit arrives.
I also hope the floods you guys have been experiencing have all drained away and life returns to normal again asap!

Re: New API Release V1.8 ?
Hello Ian,
Sorry for the confusion...
The installation executable is version 1.6.0 but it contains version 1.8.0 of the API - we'll find a better way to explain this information. So you are correct in the API/Driver installer that you found.
The EXTIO was hot-fixed on 26th December as there was a bug in the LNA switch, so 3.6 is the latest version.
Best regards,
SDRplay Support

Re: New API Release V1.8 ?
Hi SDRplay Support team. Happy new year!!!
Can I see the benefits of API 1.8 (in particular the IQ balance new function) with SDR# plugin -- currently v2.2 -- ???
Should I wait for release 2.3? Is it in plan?
(btw, since the sdr# I/Q balance in no more working with sdrplay your new function is very valuable)
(Of course, I know I can use extio v3.6 with sdr# build1361 ...)

Re: New API Release V1.8 ?
Dear Captain Nemo,
Yes the new API will ensure that you get the benefit of DC offset compensation and I/Q correction with release 2.2 of he SDR# plugin. What you won't get will be the benefits of the new gain map, but that will be addressed in v2.3 which we hope to have available pretty soon.
Sincerely

Re: New API Release V1.8 ?
Dumb question...
Do I need to de-install the old files before installing the newer versions? Or do the newer versions overwrite the older ones?
Thanks.
Rick

Re: New API Release V1.8 ?
Hi Rick,
New overwrites old - don't worry if the hardware driver doesn't update, there have been no functional changes to it, it was just updated with a different certificate to make it install easier on < Windows 8 machines
Best regards,
SDRplay Support
