We are not aware of any issues with XP and the RSP1. Presumably all was good with the previous version of HDSDR (2.7)?

Have you tried SDRuno to see if that works and confirm that it is a issue specifically related to the HDSDR install and not a H/W connectivity issue?

He really needs to check that the device is enumerating correctly. If he can see the device in the device manager, then it will be enumerating. If not, then the problem is a communication problem between his PC and the RSP1. In this scenario, the problem could be his USB cable (which might be faulty) or the driver may not have loaded correctly.

There is a issue that I had with HDSDR and and old Dell XP dual core CPU that I was using for ADS-B. I tried to put HDSDR on it as it was light for an old system like that and I started getting error messages when trying to start it up. It turned out that the old CPU wasn't capable of some math functions and when I got in touch with the author of HDSDR he knew exactly what it was and sent me a ExtIO specifically for the problem. If it turns out to be that problem then I have a copy of it .
